Kinetta
Activity tracking + food and health

Your workouts and your food. One app.

Kinetta does what a running app and a calorie counter do, together: every run, ride and walk, every meal and macro, and how they work on each other. Free and private.

Free during the beta. Works in any phone's browser today; an iPhone app with Apple Health sync is on the way. No ads, and no one selling your data.

Kinetta's Today screen: this week's 29.4 miles with a bar for each day, the next workout in a 10K plan, and calories eaten today
kinetta
/kɪˈnɛtə/ · kih-NET-uh · noun
  1. from kinetic: energy that comes from moving
  2. and kin: the people you move with

Kinetta is a made-up word with two halves: kinetic, for the energy of moving every day, and kin, for the family and friends who keep you going.

It started as one family's replacement for a running app and a food tracker: everything those did in one place, with each person's numbers private to them.

One app instead of two

Like Strava and MyFitnessPal, combined.

Most people keep their training in one app and their eating in another, and neither knows about the other. Kinetta keeps both, so each makes the other smarter.

See yourself improve

Your favorite loop, run after run.

Kinetta notices when you run the same route again, lines every effort up on one chart and tells you, in plain words, whether you're getting faster.

  • Matched routes: pace over time on each route you repeat, with your best and average times.
  • Faster at the same heartbeat: shows whether you're getting fitter, even on days your pace looks the same.
  • Similar efforts: every run compared with your others of the same distance, seconds per mile included.
The Freedom Park loop run 34 times: best 24:43, average 26:04, and a pace-over-time chart that says: getting faster, about 15 seconds per mile per month, and fitter at the same effort
Similar efforts: five earlier runs on the same route, each showing how many seconds per mile faster this run was
An AI coach note on a 2.98 mile run: pace, heart rate, what it means and what to do next

Private by design

Your numbers stay yours.

Not for sale

No ads, no tracking, and your data is never sold or shared. Kinetta will never make money from ads or from your data.

Private per person

Everyone has their own account. The app and the database both make sure each person sees only their own activities, food and weight.

Nothing sent out unless you choose

Food search sends only the words you search. AI coach notes are optional and off until you turn them on.

An honest note: during the beta, your data is kept on the Kinetta beta server, run by Ben Banks, who can technically read its database. If you'd rather nobody else could, run Kinetta on your own computer instead.

Prefer to host it yourself?

Your own Kinetta in ten minutes.

Kinetta is open source (AGPL-3.0). Run it for your family on a computer that stays on, with Docker installed.
